Skincare Products For Acne

It’s no secret that everybody has days where acne appears and it’s a bummer. For me, it’s a nightmare. I used to get really bad acne when I was in my teen years and now at the age of 21, I will wake up most mornings and find a spot the size of Mount Snowdon growing on my chin. Because of all this acne, I’ve taken to finding some skincare products on the high street that get rid of these buggers. Here are some of my favourites.

Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Back Spray*

I discovered this little gem when my sister was clearing out some of her old makeup and skincare products. She gave this to me since she didn’t use it and I almost wept with joy. Some of you might not know that I suffer with Dermatillomania, which is a compulsive skin picking condition (blog post here!). My main picking areas and my fingers and my back. I get lots of acne on my back which can be rather painful and gets even worse when I pick at it. So finding this was a miracle. This handy little spray bottle is easy to use and covers all of my acne with just a few pumps. Enriched with Tea Tree and Witch Hazel to fight spots and soothe the skin, this has made dealing with the acne on my back so much easier.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask

It was only a matter of time before The Body Shop was mentioned! You all know how much I adore The Body Shop and their amazing products. I only discovered their skincare range a few months ago and have been using them religiously, with this mask in particular. I actually have this mask on my chin while I’m writing this! My sister uses this from time to time and with the main ingredient being Tea Tree, I figured it was worth a buy. I only use a little of this at a time since my problem areas are always on my chin. It may seem like a hefty price to pay for something so small, but trust me, this stuff goes a long way.

Lush Cosmetic Warrior Face Mask

Another face mask here on the list, this time from Lush Cosmetics. This was quite an impulse purchase on the website after reading some of the reviews. This is one of Lush’s most popular face masks and with all the ingredients it had, I figured it was worth a try to see what it would do for my spotty skin. There is one thing I instantly dislike about this mask, which is something everyone has pointed out…the smell. A mixture of tea tree, garlic and green grapes leaves this with a very potent smell. I don’t mind it so much now since I am a bit obsessed with garlic things, but at first, it was a bit off-putting. Don’t let that steer you away from this however…within minutes of washing off this mask, the redness of my spots had instantly reduced. I was so impressed! This also leaves my skin feeling so soft and definitely reduces the size of them the next day. If you can handle the smell, give this a try.

Dr Organic Tea Tree Blemish Stick*

I am well aware I have mentioned Tea Tree waaaay too many times already in this blog post, but it’s brilliant for spots, so why not? This next essential is a fairly recent discovery. I used to be reliant on Clinique’s Spot Gel, which was fantastic for recuding my spots overnight, but after finding out they are not cruelty free, I decided to switch to another brand. Dr Organic are already in my good books as I use their Snail Gel as part of my everyday skincare routine, so finding a product for spots was an easy feat. This blemish stick is half the price of Clinique’s stuff and twice as effective. Packed with tea tree, I just simply use this on my spots, go to bed and bam! They’re gone! This is my favourite essential for how quickly it works for me.
