NaNoWriMo 2016 : Week One

So, it’s now been just over a week since NaNoWriMo well and truly kicked off. I promised weekly updates on how I was doing, so here is how I got on with Week One!

For the first two days, I was hitting my par easily. I was initially worried since I am currently working full time, running two youtube channels, this blog and trying to have some form of social life, that I wouldn’t actually be able to do this, but the first two days looked rather promising. I also felt bad as I knew I probably could have hit bigger targets, but since I am quite a busy bee, I forgave myself.

week-1-stats

These are my stats for today. My word count is the same as I haven’t done any work yet, but you can see that I dipped down a little on days three and four. As I attended a blogger event on one of those evenings, I couldn’t do any work and had to try and make up for it on the weekend. it was really difficult, but I managed to do it and I was pleased. This weekend, I hope to get my word count up slightly higher than par, so I can still keep on top of things.

As for my story itself, it was one I’ve had in my head for a little while. I chose to go with a completely new story rather than one of my other ideas as I really wanted to challenge myself. I’m not saying too much as I do want to reveal it when it’s polished, but I like where my story is going. Even though I don’t have the story completely planned out (which is where I fell flat last year), it’s coming to me as I go. Morgan’s also been a big help with ideas; he was the one who came up with the big plot twist, although I’m not sure how I’m going to reveal that just yet. My two characters are a lot of fun to write and I’ve turned them into something I wasn’t expecting to. obviously I don’t want to say too much right now, but I’m very excited to continue work. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to hit my part for Day 9.

Are you taking part in NaNoWriMo this year?
