When Funko Pop figures first hit the shops, I absolutely loved them. Cute pop culture figurines. What’s not to love? However, I always ranted about how there were never any Funko figures I would actually collect. Fast forward to today and my collection is beginning to grow with official figures and custom jobs too. So with that in mind, here is a blog post all about my current collection of these adorable figures.
Kaneda Shotaro (Akira) DIY Figure
My love for Akira is undying, and obviously the only way to show that is with a funko figure! I chose to do Kaneda as Kaneda is bae, but for a DIY attempt, it has some annoying flaws. His eyes are very cloudy because of the type of pen I used, he was wonky eyebrows and the paint job isn’t 100%. But I still love him, and I hope to improve on making DIY Funkos in the future.
Vault Boy (Fallout) Figure
Now I have a little confession to make…this figure isn’t actually mine, it’s Morgan’s! I bought this for him as a Christmas present two years ago, along with many other Funkos which he loved. Fallout is one of his favourite video games and I searched high and low for a Vault Boy figure to give him. I was estatic when I found it and he was too. He also owns a Dovahkiin figure & Alduin from Skyrim.
The Major (Ghost in the Shell) Figure
This figure is my most recent one, with this being a present off Morgan for my 23rd birthday. I was strongly considering doing a DIY Major job, but since I knew the live action film was coming out, I held off to see if any were released. Low and behold, I now have an official one! I can’t get over how adorable she is and how badass she looks at the same time. I’m gutted I couldn’t get Batou to go with her since he was out of stock but one day, they will be reunited.
Sailor Moon & Luna (Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon) Figure
This was one of the very first official Funko Pop figures I had. Sailor Moon is a childhood favourite of mine, and being able to get my hands in Usagi & Luna was a match made in heaven. Posed in her punishing stance, she is so adorable I could cry. And Luna is just the cutest thing ever too. I can’t get over how small she is! As well as getting Usagi, I have all the inner senshi in my collection too, so here’s hoping that the outer senshi will be funkos soon!
Sailor Jupiter (Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon) Figure
Sailor Jupiter is, and always will be, my favourite Sailor Senshi. So it’s fitting that I have a Funko of her standing tall. Ready to kick some ass any day of the week, she guards my living room when we’re away and is easily one of my favourite Funko Pops I have right now.
Sailor Mars (Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon) Figure
The fire priestess gets a mention here in my collection as she resides with all my other Sailor Moon funkos. She’s ready to bust out a fire ball and take on whoever stands in her way. It could potentially be the dog. Or the sofa. Who knows?!
Sailor Mercury (Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon) Figure
Armed with Shabon Spray, we have Sailor Mercury with her gorgeous blue vibes in my collection. She is super cute and very elegantly posed.
Sailor Venus & Artemis (Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon) Figure
Another figure with another cat, I have Sailor Venus to round off the Inner Senshi! She stands ready to whack out a Crescent Beam while Artemis takes watch.
Tuxedo Mask (Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon) Figure
Finishing off my Sailor Moon Funkos is Tuxedo Kamen himself. With his top hat and red rose, he looks so graceful, and friggin adorable. Morgan often cites him as being the overseer of our living room while we’re out.
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) DIY Figure
I ranted and ranted and RANTED for months about there not being a Tomb Raider figure, so I made one. Go figure! This was my first ever DIY Funko job and you can see it’s not exactly the best one in the world. I learnt a lot from using modelling clay and painting everything, but she stands proudly with all the proper funko figures I have. Even if half of the time, her ponytail at the back falls off.
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) Figure
Because my wonderful friend in America Becca is a saint, she bought me the proper official Lara Croft Funko for my birthday this year! She is armed with her signature pistols and ready to kick ass. I hope now that Funko have done a Lara Croft figure, they might look to the other games in the franchise and make the other characters. There was a beautiful mock up of Core Desig characters I saw on Twitter a few months ago which cemented the need for more funko pops in my life. Unfortunately, I haven’t been successful in finding the post and/or owner. If it happens to be you, get in touch!
Have you got any Funko Pop figures?
