Mental Health Awareness Week 2017

For those who aren’t aware, this week has been Mental Health Awareness Week. To commemorate this very important week, I have been uploading a video every single day throughout the week discussing various aspects of mental health issues. I cover Anxiety Disorder & Dermatillomania and how I relate to all of the topics presented. If you haven’t already seen the videos, a list of them is below and if you enjoyed, make sure you subscribe to my channel to see more videos like these!

Monday – A Mental Health Update

For the first video of the week, I chose to start things off pretty tame by updating you all on my mental health. I like to film mental health updates now and a again to show and discuss how I’ve been getting on with you guys, and as I had one overdue, it made perfect sense to me to have this as the first video of the week.

Tuesday – Dermatillomania Misconceptions

This is a video I’ve wanted to film for so long, and it is the subject of Tuesday’s video! There are a lot of misconceptions around the skin picking condition which I wanted to address, relating to my own experiences. If you have any others you’d like to add or discuss the misconceptions I already talked about, please feel free to leave a comment on the video!

Wednesday – Mental Health In The Workplace

This video is arguably the one I was the most scared to film. It’s not something that’s ever discussed in today’s society, and there are points of time where my mental health has affected my position in the workplace. In the video, I discuss how I deal with my mental health while in the workplace, and how it has affected my previous jobs in the past.

Thursday – Things I’ve Done To Help My Mental Health

I have done a lot of things to try and curb my mental health under control, and for Thursday’s video I shared what I had tried and tested. Ranging from counselling, to hypnotherapy, to a whole lot of self-care and education, I discuss what worked for me and the methods I use to help myself through a difficult period of time.

Friday – My Mental Health & The NHS

It’s no secret that the NHS in the UK is becoming more and more misinformed when it comes to mental health. Lots of people who suffer are worse off because of the lack of support from our NHS. In Friday’s video, I talk about my experience with using the NHS for my mental health, which might actually surprise a few of you!

Saturday – Mental Health Collaboration With memattieandi

For Saturday’s video, I got the chance to collaborate with a fellow youtuber! I met Matt at Summer in the City last year and he is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. We both gave each other a set of questions about our mental health which we had to answer. Patch also guest starred and licked my hand for a solid minute. If you want to see his response, click here!

Sunday – Am I Surviving or Thriving?

This question is the theme for MHAW, and for the final video of the week, I have decided to address it myself. It’s all well and good that I’m still alive and getting on with things, but does my mental health bring up setbacks, and am I actually thriving now that I’ve had the proper treatment?

Which of the videos I made was your favourite? Leave a comment below!
