My 2017 Goals | Did I Achieve Them?

So, 2017 is drawing to a close and I can now look back at my goals for the year and see if I achieved them. Thankfully I didn’t set as many for myself like I did back in 2016 and it’s going to be interesting revisiting them and seeing how well (or not at all well) I did. So, let’s dive in.

#1. Get back down to 8 stone.

I’ve got to be honest, I’m fed up of seeing this resolution whenever I look back at it. Now, I began at the end of 2016 doing Slimming World and I managed to get back down to 9 stone. However, my weight hit a really frustrating plateau and I ended up leaving the Slimming World ways in July. And now, I’ve gained that stone back, but I’ve discovered the amazing and mind-blowing world of body positivity. So even though I tried my best and technically failed, becoming more body positive means that I don’t worry about weight and it’s not taking over my life.

#2. Come off Citalopram completely.

This is one I was hoping to do this year, but unfortunately I had to learnt the hard way that I’ll probably be on this for the rest of my life. After three failed attempts to try and get off the medication this year, I’ve realised that it is the only thing that keeps my panic attacks and heightened emotions at bay. I had to accept when I started taking Citalopram that I could be on it for the rest of my life so luckily I’ve made peace with that aspect. I’m thankful that I can live a normal life when I take Citalopram and if it continues to help me, then I’m happy to take it.

#3. Keep up my Dermatillomania recovery.

This has kind of worked and kind of not. My hands had healed enough to wear false nails for the first time ever but now as I type, my thumb is red, some of my fingers have been bleeding and my nails are still growing all wonky. I can’t really say for sure whether they’re in a much better shape than they were this time last year, but from two years ago there’s a definite improvement so I’m happy with that.

#4. Reach 5,000 subscribers on my YouTube channel.

I realised halfway through the year that there was absolutely no way I was going to do this. With the whole adpocalypse situation and a whole host of other problems that YouTube has gone through this year, unfortunately I’m not at the grand 5K.  However, I did go over 3K with my subscriber count currently at 3,379. Although there hasn’t been as much progress as I would have liked, I’m going to continue making videos and hopefully get them up on a regular basis.

#5. Keep a proper log of blog & YouTube growth.

This is the only resolution I actually did this year! I mentioned that I had a spreadsheet downloaded from my blogger babe Neesha to keep track of my social media stats throughout the year, a schedule of posts and videos along with any earnings and payments I had to make. I’ve got my 2018 spreadsheet ready to fill in and I’m really excited to get cracking and see how I progress. It’s been very interesting keeping a good log of everything, especially my social media stats changing throughout the year. It’s also great to see that my DA for this blog has gone from 12 to 15 too! It doesn’t seem like a big jump, but having to watch it go up and down was a bit of a nightmare…

I think you should be proud of yourself for what you achieved, even if it wasn’t these specific goals. I know you achieved a lot of other stuff in 2017, so don’t measure your success with just these goals.
