I have been so friggin excited to share my goals for 2018 with you guys. Like seriously. Going over my 2017 goals was an interesting post, but now I get to wave 2017 goodbye and embrace the brand new year with all the things I’ve got planned. So, let’s have a look at what I’ve got in store.
#1. Officially publish & promote my novel.
As if I haven’t talked about this enough already, I’m publishing a novel this year! In fact, it will probably be in a few weeks since I’m planning for a late January/early February release. I’ve put a lot of effort into making the whole setup as professional and as timeless as possible. At the moment, I can’t give an exact release date since I don’t have my official edited manuscript back, but I am so excited to share it with you all. I’m hoping that I can put enough effort into this to allow me to keep on making novels and be able to continue my passion. But we shall all see!
#2. Read more books.
This is something I really don’t do enough and considering I’m an author, I really should! I love reading books and books are the whole reason I got into becoming an author in the first place. I don’t have an exact goal in mind for how many I should read a week or in a month, but I want to be able to dedicate time at least a few times a week to settling down with a good book. I’ve got plenty to read on my list especially with the books I had for Christmas so I’m going to make absolutely sure I get them read! If you guys have any suggestions for books I should be reading next year, please let me know!
#3. Become more body positive.
I’ve already done a whole video talking about my journey into the world of body positivity, but I discovered it through the many beautiful bopo community members and RuPaul’s Drag Race (of all the things!) I’ve been learning about diet culture and how everything in the media is designed to make us feel bad about our bodies. I can definitely see 2018 being the year that I embrace who I am and make sure that my body is well taken care of. I am excited to see myself becoming more body positive and loving myself; it’s going to be a great journey to document.
#4. Re-decorate at least one other room in the house.
It’s almost been a year since I moved into my first home with Morgan, Patch and Bonnie. It’s been a wonderful year having our own space but we’re been rather slow in getting the house to look how we want it to. Currently, the living room and the bathroom are the nicest rooms in the house since we’ve put lots of effort into their look but I’d love to tackle at least another room in the house to work on. At the moment, we have our sights set on doing up our kitchen next and hopefully when we’ve got enough money put away and some time, I can document the journey of transforming another room in our humble abode.
#5. Start speaking up more.
A reoccurrence that happens with my life is the inability to defend myself properly. Due to being bullied from a very young age, I found it really difficult to stand up for myself when people treated me like crap. 2017 in particular has taught me that I can’t just let people think they can walk all over me and treat me like I’m the dirt beneath their feet when in reality I deserve so much more than that. I am tired of being taken for a fool and in 2018, I hope to start speaking up when I’m mistreated by anyone who comes across my path. This may burn some bridges and hurt people’s feelings but at the end of the day, I am worthy of respect and anyone who refuses to show me that can jump on that burning bridge.
What are your goals for 2018?
