Something that I’ve always been curious about from Lush is their range of products, the shampoo bar. The idea of the shampoo bars is that they’re a way to wash your hair without any packaging to damage the environment and they’re meant to give you lots more use than a regular shampoo in a bottle. The concept behind it amazed me and made me eager to test one of them out some day. Thanks to some goodies I was very kindly gifted by Lush a few months ago when I went to the opening of Lush Swansea, I now have that chance – and I got given one of the most popular ones, the New Shampoo Bar.
Despite the name, this isn’t a brand new product from Lush – it’s been around for a long time. This particular bar has got lots of ingredients to stimulate hair growth; cinnamon, peppermint, rosemary, clove bud, basically anything that will help your hair become lusciously long. I’ve heard lots of magical stories of people using this shampoo bar and seeing baby hair immediately get longer and as someone who has always wanted long, healthy hair I was very excited to use this and see what kind of effects it would have for me.
Something that confused me at first with the design of this bra is the fact is has #BeCrueltyFree on it, and I wasn’t quite sure what this meant. A quick google search and I found out that this was a shampoo bar that got brought back a few years ago as a way to promote Be Humane Society’s campaign to ban animal testing. As Lush are very proud advocates of being against animal testing, I feel really good that I’ll be able to do my bit to help by buying this product. It’s a big message but it gets across brilliantly with the packaging.
One positive that I wasn’t expecting to say is that this smells gorgeous. I wasn’t quite sure if I’d like the smell at first since there’s a whole bunch of different strong smells in this product, but it’s one of the most refreshing things I’ve ever smelt. It’s brilliant for when I shower in the mornings as it gives me a little extra boost to wake me up since the cinnamon and peppermint is so potent. It also lathers up ridiculously quickly and gives a lot with just the tiniest amount of water; I can definitely tell this will be a very long lasting product since I was able to lather up my very thick hair with the tiniest bit of product.
Another thing I love about this is its size; it makes it ideal for when I’m travelling and I need to wash my hair. No more lugging around shampoo bottles – I can just pop this in my bag and I’m good to go. The fact it comes in its own little compact case is great too, meaning there’s no chance of any spillage that you’d normally get with a shampoo bottle. And it seals shut too – which can make it a bit awkward to get open sometimes when you’re half awake, but that’s on me.
I think I may have become converted to using solid shampoo bars –with this only costing £6.95 for this tiny bar, it’s going to be a brilliant staple in my haircare routine. As I’ve only been using this for a couple of weeks, it’s difficult to say whether it’s helping my hair grow but my hair feels super squeaky clean, incredibly soft and also gives it a beautiful cinnamon minty smell that keeps me awake during the day. This is a product that I will definitely be repurchasing again!
